My grandfather, Glen Porter, passed away in 1973 when I was 16. I served a mission to Georgia and Alabama in 1976. Soon after Lisa Schnepf and I were married we moved into a new ward here in Mesa, Arizona in about 1985. An old fellow in the ward, Earl Bushman Westover, asked if I knew Glen Porter. Earl related that he served in the same mission with my grandfather and knew him there, though they were never companions. He gave me two copies of a photograph of missionaries on the steps of a church in St Louis.. the picture above. A great thing was that Earl had written all the missionary's names on the back, and where they were from. The next many years were spent raising our 5 children. I loved the picture and kept it on my desk at work. In about 2000 I began researching my grandfather's mission and began trying to contact descendants of his fellow missionaries. As of this writing (2009) several have been found and I'm thrilled with the support these families have provided in making their material available here for all to enjoy. I'm continuing to seek out missionary descendants and hope this website will continue to expand so check back from time to time to see what new pictures and journal entries have been added that include your ancestor missionary from the Missouri Conference of the Central States Mission. With the internet reaching around the globe, I hope you and your families, where ever they are, enjoy having this website to learn more about this wonderful heritage that we all share.

Best regards,
